About Us

The Special Olympics is a wonderful program in which individuals with varying disabilities are able to compete in different athletic events. Participation in the Special Olympics is a positive way to help build self-esteem, athleticism and social skills in individuals with special needs and truly gives disabled people a chance to shine. It takes a lot of coordination to hold a Special Olympics. And that means considerable expense. Special Olympics PA is a volunteer-driven organization.  Special Olympics athletes are never charged a fee to compete. All of their expenses, including training, uniforms and other related costs, are paid for through generous donations from individuals and businesses.
